PAST EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Borderlands: A Critical Graduate Symposium, held on April 29th and 30th, 2016
The 2016 Borderlands Critical Graduate Symposium was the first of its kind to be held at UCONN. Co-organized by Chriss Sneed and Cynthia Melendez (with help from a wonderful team made of operations coordinators, fiscal supporters, proposal reviewers, and volunteers), Borderlands 2016’s theme was Beyond Bridges and Barbwire: Expanding Our Knowledges, Imagining Possibility.
The 2016 conference featured over 20 different presentations, with participants hailing from 8 different universities. More than 13 academic disciplines were represented and critical imaginations stemming from both in and outside of the academy were infused throughout the event.
To see more information about the sessions, please review the 2016 program. The artwork (see header above) that was used within the program, call-for-papers, and advertisements was a piece by artist Alexandra Colmenares Cossio.
